My husband and I love going on little coffee dates around town.
We’re not coffee purists by any means, but we’re not over-the-top either.
We fall right in the middle—we like our lattes with a bit of creamer, a little sweetener, and some froth.
On one end of the spectrum, you’ve got the black coffee drinkers—straightforward and classic.
On the other end, there are the adventurous ones who order elaborate creations with every flavor, syrup, and topping imaginable. (Think lavender-pistachio white chocolate with extra cream, froth, with a little heart design in the foam, and cinnamon sprinkled on top.)
One of my favorite takes on this comes from comedian Tim Hawkins. He jokes about how complicated coffee orders can get: “I want a tall, skinny, sugar-free, decaf, soy vanilla latte—extra hot, whipped cream, double sleeve, no cup.”
If you want a laugh, you can watch the clip here – “Starbucks Order.”
Some people might say our middle-of-the-road coffee choice makes us less than true coffee connoisseurs—and that’s fine.
We’ve simply found what we like.
It’s kind of the same in the virtual assistant world.
When I first stepped into the world of virtual assistance, I felt a little lost. I had plenty of admin experience under my belt, but I kept asking myself, “Is this really what I want to offer?”
Sure, managing emails, calendars, and data entry are valuable—but deep down, I wondered if there was something more. Something that would let me be creative and actually make me look forward to opening my laptop each morning.
A Virtual Assistant (VA) is traditionally defined as someone who provides administrative and operational support—managing emails and calendars, handling customer service, booking travel, entering data, and keeping things running smoothly.
In short, they help businesses stay organized and save time by taking on tasks that can bog down an owner.
But I quickly discovered that most VAs today do much more than just admin work.
Wanting to learn more about what the VA offers beyond the norm, I delved into researching the subject. I immersed myself in articles, YouTube videos, and coaching programs.
Some experts said that choosing a niche was non-negotiable, while others said it was okay to begin broad and let experience guide you.
I chose the second option—offering everything already in my skill set and waiting to see where it led me.
And here’s what happened: every client I worked with wanted help with visibility.
They didn’t want SEO or growth strategies. What they needed was someone to create the blogs, newsletters, social posts, and graphics that would keep their business visible online.
That’s when I realized something important—there’s a name for this type of work:
Creative Virtual Assistant. A Creative VA blends traditional support with creative skills.
Beyond the typical VA tasks, we:
- Design graphics, presentations, and social media posts
- Write blogs, captions, and newsletters
- Assist with branding and content ideas
- Edit videos or create simple animations
- Support creative projects like online courses, ebooks, or email campaigns
In other words, a Creative VA helps your business not just run—but also look professional and engaging.
Now, let’s be clear: it sounds a little like digital marketing, but it’s NOT the same thing.
Digital marketers develop strategies for growth, run paid advertisements, optimize SEO, track performance data, and place a strong emphasis on sales.
Their strength lies in driving measurable results.
My role is different—I focus on helping your business show up consistently with professional, creative content that supports the strategies you already have in place.
I like to think of a Creative VA as the latte drinker of the bunch.
Not as plain as black coffee, not as overcomplicated as a wild specialty drink—just that sweet spot in the middle. A balance of practicality and creativity that keeps things running while also making them look good.
So, if you’re a business owner with a strategy already in place but no time (or energy) to create the content that makes your brand visible, I’d love to help.
Think of me as the one who makes sure your “coffee” comes out just the way you like it—reliable, polished, and with a little extra froth on top.
Hit reply or reach out, and let’s discuss how I can take the creative workload off your plate—so you can focus on growing your business and have time to enjoy a cup of coffee in your preferred way.
