If there’s one thing I’ve learned from building a home and running a business, it’s that watching YouTube tutorials doesn’t qualify you to drill a 160-foot well—or run a business solo! Many of you know my husband and I bought land and are putting a manufactured home on it. Let me tell you—it’s been quite the process! The house arrived, but we had to wait for the home dealer to coordinate everything: prepping the site, installing the home, setting up the septic tank and drain field, putting in stairs for the front and side doors, drilling the well, and setting up the outside A/C unit. And we’re still waiting on a few things: the electric meter and pole, the stucco skirt, the final inspection, and the walkthrough. Even with over 20 years of experience in construction, as a project admin, I didn’t realize just how many moving parts a project like this involves. We bought the house in August and were told we’d be in by the end of the year. Well, here we are—it’s January 2025—and we’re still waiting. Stressful doesn’t even begin to describe it! From July to December, we lived in an Airbnb. Now, my husband is staying in a camper on our North Florida property while I’m living with a friend in South Florida and working full-time until the house is ready. No matter how much we tried to prepare, things haven’t gone as planned. When frustration with delays crept in, we considered doing some of the work ourselves. My husband has experience with pumps and sprinklers, so he thought about drilling the well. But drilling 160 feet down requires tools and expertise he just didn’t have. Someone even suggested he tackle the electrical work. Thankfully, he knew that was way out of his comfort zone. In the end, leaving each job to the professionals was the best decision. Even though the waiting has been hard, the work was done right—and that’s saved us time, money, and headaches in the long run. This whole experience reminds me of what it’s like to run a business. So many of us try to do everything ourselves to save money or time, but delegating to someone skilled makes all the difference. That’s where Virtual Assistants come in! Three Reasons to Hire a Virtual Assistant for Your Business: 1. Save Time and Get More Done A virtual assistant (VA) can handle tasks like managing emails, scheduling, data entry, and customer service, freeing you up to focus on growing your business 2. It’s Cost-Effective Hiring a VA is more affordable than hiring a full-time employee. You save on office space, equipment, benefits, and only pay for the work you need. 3. Access to Expert Skills Virtual assistants are skilled in areas like social media, graphic design, bookkeeping, and more. You get the expertise without needing to hire multiple employees. Hiring a VA isn’t just about getting extra help—it’s about freeing yourself to focus on what really matters. Just like we’re relieved when a professional finishes their part of our home, you’ll feel that same relief when you delegate business tasks to the right person. Hire someone to help—it’s worth it! |
