Back in May of 2023, I joined a business course to learn how to become a Virtual Assistant.
Actually, it was more about learning how to start and run a business than it was about becoming a Virtual Assistant.
This course included video modules of teaching, downloads of important lists and calculators, as well as live group coaching calls.
When I first signed up for the program, I received an email from my business coach asking me to join her Facebook group. With that request came the instruction to upload my picture into an attached graphic using “Canva” and post it on the Facebook group.
That was the first time I’d ever heard of “Canva.”
The second time I heard the word “Canva” was in one of the first live group coaching calls for the program.
From both of these experiences, I learned that “Canva” was apparently very popular, a lot of people were using it, and I had no clue where to start.
Like everything else in life, when you’re trying to find a place to start, you usually just start at the beginning.
I looked up Canva just to learn a little more about it and discovered that it was a design tool that helps you create graphics for almost anything you would need a graphic for in business – social media, websites, slide presentations, thank you cards, flyers, brochures, and more.
The fact that they have a free version was very nice, of course, because I was just starting out and wasn’t sure what was worth investing it quite yet.
As soon as I started using Canva, I realized it would be helpful to find a course on it so I found a great course on Udemy that really helped teach me all of the basic skills for how to use the platform and since then, I have fallen in love with Canva.
Currently, I rely on Canva for nearly all my design needs, and it also offers excellent team collaboration features, allowing team members to easily share and build on designs together.
Canva is truly a valuable platform, which is why it’s featured in this month’s lineup.
Canva offers four pricing options:
- Canva Free: $0
- Canva Pro: $120 per person, annually
- Canva Teams: $100 per person, annually (minimum of 3 people)
- Canva Enterprise: Contact for pricing
Here are four reasons why Canva is ideal for small businesses:
- User-Friendly and Cost-Effective: Canva’s intuitive interface makes it easy for small business owners, even those with little design experience, to create professional graphics. Its free and affordable Pro versions offer a lot of value without requiring expensive design software.
- Time-Saving Templates: Canva offers thousands of pre-made templates for social media, presentations, marketing materials, and more. These templates save time and help businesses create polished visuals quickly, allowing more focus on other business tasks.
- Collaboration Features: Canva allows team members to collaborate on designs in real-time, making it easy to share ideas and get feedback. This is especially helpful for small businesses where multiple people may contribute to branding and marketing efforts.
- Consistent Branding with Brand Kit: With Canva’s Brand Kit (available in Canva Pro), small businesses can store their brand colors, fonts, and logos in one place. This feature helps maintain brand consistency across all visuals, building a recognizable brand identity without much effort.
Reason #4 is my favorite!
If you haven’t tried Canva yet, it’s definitely worth a try.
For those who aren’t naturally design-oriented, there are countless templates to spark ideas. And if you’re already creative, Canva offers the freedom to bring your ideas to life.
Personally, I’ve discovered that the creative side of Virtual Assisting is where I thrive, and Canva has played a big role in that.
So, if you need assistant with visual graphics and prefer to leave it to someone else, feel free to reach out – I’d be happy to help!
